How Timenor calculates

This page explains exactly how Timenor calculates duration, rounding, target hours, credits and balances.

Raw time #

Raw time = end time − start time − break. A running entry only counts once it has been stopped. Each booking belongs to the day on which it started. You enter the break yourself, or it comes from the break rule.

Billable time and revenue #

Billable time is calculated per booking by rounding up according to the project's billing mode (to the minute, or to 15, 30 or 60 minutes). Bookings without a project stay accurate to the minute.

Estimated revenue = sum of billable hours × hourly rate, only for projects with an hourly rate, shown in euros.

Target #

The daily target comes from the work profile. For today and for the monthly progress, Timenor reduces it by public holidays (half holiday: half the target) and absences. A weekday that you have switched off in the profile has no target.

Credits for holidays and absences #

Case on a working dayCredit
Public holiday or full additional holidayfull daily target
Half holidayhalf the daily target
Absence “Full day”full daily target
Absence “Half day”half the daily target
Absence “Hours”hours entered, at most the daily target
NoteHolidays take precedence over absences. Days off (according to the profile) receive no credit.

Balance and cumulative balance #

Balance of a period = actual + credits − target, calculated up to today and at the earliest from the usage start (without a usage start, from the first entry). You bring in times before that via the overtime carry-over.

Cumulative balance = overtime carry-over + balance from the usage start (or from the first entry) up to today. You set the usage start and carry-over under More › Time Tracking › “Initial Balances”.

Vacation days and sick days #

  • Vacation days taken: each working day with the absence type “Vacation” counts as 1, a half day as 0.5. Vacation in hours and public holidays do not count.
  • Available: “Vacation Days/Year” plus “Vacation Carry-over” from the settings.
  • Sick days: each working day with “Sick” or “Child sick” counts as one day, a half day as 0.5.
